FTOPS XVII Set To Begin

Posted July 26, 2010
The FTOPS XVII is scheduled to kick off on August 4th at Full Tilt Poker, with over 25 million in guaranteed prizes. The FTOPS at Full Tilt Poker, otherwise known as the Full Tilt Online Poker Series, has become one of the most popular group of poker tournaments in the world. With 34 events and huge prizepools offered for each and every one, all eyes in the poker world will be squarely on Full Tilt Poker. The series kicks off on August 4th with the $200+16 buy in no limit holdem event, and continues on until the $600+40 Main Event on August 15th. This is the perfect opportunity to make a name for yourself in the poker world, and to hit a big score. Sign up for Full Tilt Poker today, and you can buy in directly to any of the FTOPS events. There are also a multitude of satellites running for each event, some of which are free to enter. Use the referral code ZZBONUS when creating your account, and get up to $600 extra and exclusive freeroll entries.
Patterned after the extremely popular World Series of Poker, the first FTOPS was played in August 2006. This first series had only 9 events, but due to the popularity of the FTOPS, the number of events has been increased over the last few years. The prizepools get bigger and bigger for every FTOPS that is held, and the FTOPS XVII will more than likely break records for the biggest prizepools. The FTOPS is more than an annual event, and is typically held 3-4 times every year. I believe that it was originally planned to be held on a yearly basis, but that the players wanted more which led Full Tilt Poker to run it on a more regular basis. The total prizepool for the first FTOPS was just over $2 million, so you can see how much it has grown as we approach FTOPS XVII.
One thing that Full Tilt Poker has done to increase the popularity of the FTOPS has been to increase the participation of their “red pros”. These “red pros” are the team of professional poker players that have a hand in helping to promote FullTiltPoker.com. Each FTOPS is hosted by one of the Full Tilt poker pros, but there are usually at least 10-20 “red pros” entered into every FTOPS event. Players love the opportunity to play with these pros, as it can be a thrill to have the opportunity to knock one of these players out of an event. Imagine being able to tell your buddies that you just busted busted Phil Ivey in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series. Expect to see many of the big names in this year’s FTOPS including Ivey, Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, Mike Matusow, Chris Ferguson, John Juanda, and many more.
As we mentioned above, there are satellites running right now for the FTOPS events. Full Tilt is good about running lots of satellites, which helps to boost the number of players that are in each event. This is always a good thing, as more players means bigger prizepools. There are many different ways to win your seat into multiple FTOPS events. Some of the satellites are freerolls, some have buy ins of frequent player points, and some have small cash buy ins. You can win your way into as many FTOPS events as you like, and if you win multiple entries into the same event you will win tournament dollars which can be used at any tournament on FullTiltPoker.com.
